What we do
Hospice focuses on caring, not curing
The term “hospice” was originally used to describe a place of shelter and rest for weary or sick travelers on long journeys. Today, hospice care refers to care for the patient whose terminal illness is no longer being aggressively treated. Hospice care addresses all of the symptoms of the illness with special emphasis on controlling the patient’s pain and discomfort while providing support, care, and consideration during the adjustments of the patient and family to the terminal illness. Hospice East provides compassionate quality care through our professional caring staff. Over the years, Hospice East has created a culture that supports and encourages personalized care.
Every patient’s unique needs are addressed and a plan developed for the best possible care for that patient and family. The type of care each patient requires may differ greatly. Some patients may require daily visits and personal care support from our certified nursing aides, while others may only need a weekly visit from a registered nurse. We listen to our patients and families and work together to develop the best plan for each situation. You can read more about the different types of care available.
